Dear Tear
Fábrica Braço de Prata
LISBON . 01.2023
Dear Tear marked Inês Assis's first solo exhibition, held in January 2023 at Fábrica do Braço de Prata in Lisbon. The exhibition presented a collection of works that propose a reflection on emotional states, vulnerability, and the internal processes that permeate the human experience.
Starting from the idea of accepting fragility as an essential part of growth and overcoming, Dear Tear invites the viewer to look at emotions often associated with pain or sadness from a different perspective: not as signs of weakness, but as natural manifestations of the human journey. The exhibition's title itself refers to this symbolic gesture of acceptance: embracing the tear as an expression of transformation and self-knowledge.
Predominantly composed of portraits and female figures, the exhibition explores expressions, states of mind, and emotional universes. In dialogue with abstract elements, the works are distinguished by the use of strong, contrasting, and fluorescent colors, creating a tension between chromatic intensity and the emotional states represented.
