Inês Assis is a designer and visual artist based in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Communication Design (pre-Bologna) from IADE (Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing) and also completed a master's degree in Visual Culture Theory there, an area that deepened her critical reflection on the image as a cultural construct and communication device. Her artistic practice develops at the intersection of design, painting, and visual culture, exploring the relationships between graphic language, pictorial gesture, and the symbolic construction of the image. She is currently in her second year of the Painting course at the National Society of Fine Arts, where she is deepening her plastic and conceptual research in the field of contemporary painting. Her work focuses on issues of femininity, addressing the presence, representation, and role of women in contemporary society. Through painting and visual language, she develops artistic research that seeks to reflect on processes of visibility, identity, and affirmation in the cultural and social space, invoking narratives that articulate individual experience and collective dimension. Her approach frequently integrates principles from design, particularly in organization, composition, and the relationship between form and color. This dialogue between disciplines constitutes a structuring axis of her practice, allowing her to explore the image simultaneously as an artistic object and a means of communication. Alongside her artistic practice, she has been developing activities in the field of art education, occasionally teaching painting workshops for adults and children since 2023. This pedagogical dimension reflects her interest in knowledge transmission processes and in contexts of shared creation, understanding artistic practice also as a space for learning, experimentation, and cultural participation.
